...I firmly believe in the quote accompanying my signature below. I practice it every day by recycling, using eco-friendly products, driving a hybrid car. I’m working within the Village [of Island Lake] to pass ordinances requiring developers to use eco-friendly materials in construction and to require they recycle much of it.
 
I do these things for very practical reasons since we cannot breathe dirty air, clean water certainly tastes better than dirty water, and Lakewood Forest preserve, along with Moraine Hills, my favorite, and all the other preserves need to stay preserved. These sites are invaluable to our environment. They clean our water, replenishing the aquifers; the trees clean our air and they’re home to innumerable species that share this planet with us. When these sites were first saved the intention was to keep them open, not build a huge stadium on them...
