Regarding recent media coverage of new candidates opposing incumbent commissioners, we at Voters For Preservation believe our truth-seeking has been a big part of the desire many people have expressed since early last year for real accountability on the Lake County Board.   To quote a guy named Dylan, "The times, they are a-changin'."

We are not a political organization, and we cannot -- and should not -- tell Lake County citizens how to vote.  There are many issues to be considered when one steps into the voting both this November; we only ask that forest preserve issues be part of that consideration.

By the way, contrary to what many have heard, Lakewood Forest Preserve is still  OFFICIALLY  "on the table" as the place to hold the 2016 Olympic equestrian events, should Chicago win the bid next year -- although most of us in VFP  think such chances are now unlikely, given the success of the fight we and others have put up against it.  But let's continue to make it clear that we, unlike some other groups, are  DIAMETRICALLY  OPPOSED  to these events being held on  ANY  forest preserve lands.  Period.

From an environmental standpoint, building huge construction projects somewhere like Raven Glen may indeed be "less bad" than doing it at Lakewood -- but that does not make such ill-conceived plans "good."  And either way, the eventual cost to taxpayers is all but certain.  More information is available to the public at www.VotersForPreservation.org .
